LGBT activist Gerry Faier was a longtime member of Congregation Beit Simchat Torah, the LGBT synagogue in New York City. Born in 1908, Gerry Faier came out as a lesbian in 1938 and worked as a community organizer in Greenwich Village and Woodstock. In 1978, she helped found SAGE: Services and Advocacy for GLBT Elders.
