Jewish Women on the Map - Chicago Child Care Society
Natalie Goldstein Heineman was the first woman to serve as president of the Chicago Child Care Society, the oldest existing child welfare organization in Illinois. Appointed to the poistion in 1966, she had previously served on the organization's "Board of Lady Managers." Born on the south side of Chicago in 1913, Heineman began her career in social work in 1933, witnessing firsthand the effect of the Great Depression on the city's children. She went on to become one of Chicago's most dedicated child welfare advocates and served on the boards of many local and national civic organizations. She passed away in 2010.
