The last of the Red Hot Mamas, Sophie Tucker was funny, risqué and full of life, but she could also evoke tears with "My Yiddishe Mama." Recordings of that song, which had the power to evoke a reverence for Jewish culture, were ordered smashed in Germany after Hitler gained power.
