Tamiris, Helen - still image [media]

Helen Tamiris was one of the pioneers of American modern dance. As a choreographer, she explored her Jewish roots in her 1959 work Memoir and women's roles in society and the dehumanizing devastation of the Holocaust in Women's Song (1960).
