Szold's speech at the World Parliament of Religions, 1893

Henrietta Szold was one of only two women to speak at the Jewish Parliament held during the World Parliament of Religion at the 1893 Columbian Exposition in Chicago. A Jewish Women's Congress, organized in part as a protest against the exclusion of women from the organization and program of the general Jewish conference, resulted in the creation of the National Council of Jewish Women.
