World's Columbian Exposition 1893 Compliments of the Hebrew Benevolent and Orphan Asylum. Proceedings of the Seventieth Annual Meeting of the Hebrew Benevolent and Orphan Asylum Society. New York: Stettiner, Lambert, & Co., 1893: One of the oldest Jewish charitable associations in the United States, the Hebrew Benevolent and Orphan Asylum Society prepared this special edition of its 1893 annual report in honor of the World's Columbian Exposition. In that year, the society reported that it sheltered almost 650 indigent children, with more than 2,500 individuals donating funds towards their support.
