The launching of Shuly Nathan's singing career reads like a fairy tale: As an unknown twenty-year-old, she was asked to sing Naomi Shemer's new song "Jerusalem of Gold" at the 1967 Israeli Song Festival. The composition took the audience by storm, and, with the ensuing breakout of the Six Day War, became the greatest Israeli hit song ever.
