Morgenstern-Lina - still image
At the age of eighteen, Lina Morgenstern established a German “Penny Society for Poor Pupils,” which remained in existence for the next eighty years. The philanthropic social activist, who believed that "women's work" could bring about "universal human love," went on to establish several organizations to aid the poor and war-wounded and to further the causes of women's rights and world peace.
