Meeting in a hotel room to discuss strategy during the National Women's Convention
The National Plan of Action included planks calling for:

* Equal opportunities for women in the arts and humanities, in the media, in elective and appointive office, in credit and insurance, in business and education, in formulating foreign policy

* Assistance to battered women, disabled women, minority women, older women, rural women, and women in prison

* Concern for women's health needs and the right to choose abortion, with Federal and State Medicaid benefits for those who cannot afford it

* Pregnancy disability benefits for employed women

* Civil rights for lesbians

* Protection against rape and child abuse

* Comprehensive child-care facilities

* A national health care system

* A better welfare system and educational and job programs for poor women

* An end to all discrimination in employment and an opening up of new job opportunities for women
