The first kindergarten teacher of the Ha-Shomer ha-Za’ir Kibbutz Mishmar ha-Emek, Emma Levine-Talmi went on to become a member of the Knesset, so respected for her speaking abilities that even her ideological opponent Menahem Begin dubbed her the “Knesset Nightingale.” Towards the end of her life she returned to her first love: writing.
