Ruth Klüger, an Austrian Jew, an American professor and a German writer, is known for her scholarship on eighteenth- and nineteenth-century German literature, her gender-specific interpretations of texts and popular culture, and for her 1992 autobiography, which depicted her personal experience of the Holocaust and established her as an important authority on the Holocaust in Germany.
