Esther Herlitz was imbued with a passionate commitment to Zionism and a profound love of her country and her people that found its expression in a lifetime of communal and national activities that included service in the Haganah, the Israel Foreign Ministry and the Knesset. The "consummate volunteer," she also founded the Council for Voluntarism in Israel.
