In 1969, journalist Barbara Seaman, the "muckraker for women's health," wrote The Doctors’ Case Against the Pill, the book which resulted first in a Senate hearing and then in the placement of a patient warning on oral contraceptives, the first on any prescription drug. She co-founded the National Women's Health Network that same year.
