"It almost blew our minds. I think if anything was a eureka, if anything was a my g-d, I don't believe this, that was acyclovir. "We showed you could have selectivity, and that was the name of the game. Selectivity. Not, you can destroy a virus, but you can do it without destroying the cell. And once that was shown, everybody went into the antiviral business."
