President of the National Council of Jewish Women from 1920 to 1926, Rose Brenner provided strong leadership, almost doubling the size of the organization. The NCJW has always championed both public service and the role of traditional motherhood; indeed, Brenner is the only unmarried woman ever to be president.

Institution: The Jacob Rader Marcus Center of the American Jewish Archives, Cincinnati, OH, and Bachrach.
