The outstanding salonnière of Vienna at the time, Fanny von Arnstein created an atmosphere in which artists and musicians, writers and poets, nobles and intellectuals, both Jewish and non-Jewish, could socialize in comfort and discuss the ideas of the day. She is portrayed here in a Kininger mezzotint after Guerin, 1804.
