Abzug's Campaign Poster

Abzug's Campaign Poster
"My campaign slogan, which has since been used in many election campaigns by women in the United States and around the world, was, This woman's place is in the House...the House of Representatives. When we celebrated my victory on election night, my older daughter, Eve, said, 'Thank God, we got her out of our house and into their House.'"

"I stressed three major themes in my campaign - peace and Vietnam, a reordering of our spending priorities, and, as my slogan indicated, women's rights. As far as I can tell, I was, with the possible exception of Jeannette Rankin, the first female candidate to win election to Congress in a campaign that stressed women's equality issues."
