[Because of the trip to the Soviet Union] I realized the importance of activism, the importance of if something is going wrong in another part of the world, that we can made a difference. [The trip to the Soviet Union] encouraged me as an individual to continue my work in the Jewish community...So I think the trip did have an impact on us. I mean, yes, I was frightened, and yes, I got sick from it, but it made a difference knowing that we could make a difference.
