It starts with taking a little risk. Go to an event, answer an invitation, go to a conference, agree to go to a meeting, say 'yes' to something that you might not normally do, perhaps with people you don't know, and see where it leads. Or get a friend to go with you. Then see what grabs you, what issues and campaigns seem important and useful, and have other people involved who have a vision of what can be done.
