What Else She Said

I see it as an obligation to be a role model to other people, to other friends who maybe wouldn't become involved in an issue if I hadn't said something to them. 'Pick up the phone, make a phone call, help me out.' 'Make a donation to a specific organization that will not continue to be able to do the work if we don't have some financial backing.'...

One thing I've learned in all the lectures I've given and all the traveling and everything else is that if you just stand up there and you talk, people will find it interesting but you leave them nothing to sink their teeth into. But if you give people some action so that they can say, 'Oh, I signed that petition' or 'I was part of that,' it's a great way to bring people in and get their juices going.
