What Else She Said

I landed here in the 1980s. And the homeless population is just amazing, and to see -- when Federation opened this program... they knew that there was a population of Jewish people living below the poverty level but I don't think they knew what they looked like. They didn't realize that they were people without coats in the winter, and without homes, and, that they were people who would start coming to us just because there was a mezuzah on the door and that had meaning to them. It was very profound.
