I tried not to [feel conflicts between family responsibilities and my job], but I know that when I was going to school, the kids kind of resented that. I remember an incident when I was at Harvard, doing summer courses. I came home to my mother's house, and my little one... looks at me and said, 'Don't bother me, I have homework to do.' I went into the bedroom and my mother said, 'See?'... There was always work to do, there was always another report, more readings to do. I tried to avoid that but you just can't.
