Why [I got involved in human rights work] is probably because having listened to my relatives, which I loved to do - listening to what happened in Russia, what happened in Germany, what happened in all of these places - was very intriguing to me, because I had no idea that people could be so horrendous at times or could do such horrific things, and I really tried to understand. It is what got me to where I am.
