What Else She Said

I was very close to my father's parents... We lived with [them] for a couple of years when I was a teeny baby, before we moved out. So my memories of childhood, until age thirteen, were very infused with connection with my grandparents, who I think were really the source of my emotional attachment to Judaism. They were Orthodox and I used to go to shul with my grandfather, and stand up next to him.
