1992 Legacy |
|
Picon continued to
perform well into her eighties. She died on April 6, 1992 from
Alzheimer’s disease at 94 years of age. Molly Picon’s substantial
contributions to Yiddish language and culture have been immortalized
on print and in film and are increasingly valued as recent Yiddish
revival efforts bring them to life for a younger generation.
Organizations such as YIVO and the National Yiddish Book Center
continue the efforts of women like Molly Picon to preserve the rich
legacy of Yiddish language and culture.
