Encyclopedia: CD ROM edition

Jewish Women Encyclopedia: CD ROM edition cover.

Edited by Paula Hyman and Dalia Ofer and launched in 2006, the CD-ROM edition of Jewish Women: A Comprehensive Historical Encyclopedia built upon the prize-winning encyclopedia Jewish Women in America (1997), but extended its coverage of Jewish women's experiences to encompass three millennia and Jewish women worldwide.

With 1700 biographical entries, 300 thematic entries and over 1200 photographs, this encyclopedia's electronic navigation capabilities offer readers thematic and visual links that enable them to draw connections across time and space in ways that would never be possible in a standard encyclopedia book.

What people are saying about Jewish Women: A Comprehensive Historical Encyclopedia

"Whether you are a scholar in search of the past, a journalist in need of facts in the present, or a young Jewish girl looking for role models for dreams of the future, Moshe Shalvi's CD encyclopedia is a treasure-trove of articles and references. User-friendly and thoughtfully compiled, this source is as much a joy for the casual browser as for those who come with a purpose."—Gloria Steinem

"I'm a "Jewish Women" addict; can't get enough of this brilliantly-conceived, meticulously organized, exceedingly user-friendly, CD encyclopedia ... Moshe Shalvi has produced a monumental work, a lasting tribute to the well-known and the unsung, those whose accomplishments and passions might otherwise have been lost to history; a feast for the present generation, and a generous gift to posterity. All in all, a triumph."—Letty Cottin Pogrebin

From Sarah Aaronsohn to Krystyna Zywulska, this electronic encyclopedia contains 1,690 biographical entries, 300 topic essays, and 1,400 photographs and illustrations.
