Kirsten Swinth

Kirsten Swinth is Magis Distinguished Professor of History at Fordham University and director of the American Studies Program. She has published Painting Professionals: Women Artists and the Development of Modern American Art, 1870-1930 (2001) and is working on a study of arts programs at settlement houses and a cultural history of the working mother.

A comprehensive directory of the American art world, the Annual catalogued schools, associations, exhibitions, and artists nationwide. Levy went on to perform invaluable editing, organizing, and educational roles in the American art world for the next fifty years.
