Mati Meyer

Mati Meyer studied art history at the Université de Paris I (Sorbonne) and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, from where she received her Ph.D. She is an adjunct professor in the history of art department at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Meyer publishes articles on the iconography of women in Byzantine illuminated manuscripts. She is currently working on a book entitled An Obscure Portrait: The Iconography of Women in Byzantine Art, which deals with the everyday life, roles and perception of women as it has been portrayed in Byzantine art from the fifth century through the decline of the Byzantine Empire.
