Suzanne Bartlet

Suzanne Bartlet was a visiting Research Fellow at Southampton University, UK, until her death in June 2008. She studied her B.Sc. at LSE and an MA in Medieval Culture From Southampton University. Her research interest was medieval Jewish Women, particularly those of her city, Winchester. She published an article in the Jewish Culture and History Journal and a chapter on Jewish Women in the Medieval Anglo-Jewish Community in Jews in Medieval Britain. Her book, Licoricia of Winchester: marriage, motherland and murder in the Medieval Anglo-Jewish Community was published in 2009 by Vallentine Mitchell.

Licoricia of Winchester was a thirteenth-century English businesswoman. She lent money and conducted business dealings all over southern and south-western England, sometimes with the involvement of the king, Henry III.
