Rose Schneiderman (1882-1972) A Polish immigrant to New York's Lower East Side, Rose Schneiderman was a passionate activist for the labor movement at the turn of the twentieth century. She was an organizer for the Women's Trade Union and a national organizer for the International Ladies Garment Workers Union (ILGWU). Deeply involved in Farm Labor politics, Schneiderman was that party's candidate for the U.S. Senate from New York in 1920. She was president for the Women's Trade Union League for over 30 years, serving as labor advisor to several national labor and government agencies. Schneiderman lent her voice to other areas of reform including the suffrage movement, serving as key organizer for the National American Women Suffrage Association.
