For many, the summer months offer time for travel and vacation. School is out, the weather is fine. Families, friends and individuals often hit the road, venturing to historical sites, recreational sites, national parks or family gatherings. Some find opportunities to travel abroad.

Travel can bring fun, education and adventure. As the women highlighted in this summer's feature demonstrate, travel can also make an indelible impression on our lives and our world. Glikl bas Judah, Henrietta Szold, Joanna Eckstein, and Ruth Gruber traveled for varied purposes including business, matchmaking, tourism, politics, and journalism. Each of these women found ways to share the perspectives gained from their exposure to broader worlds. They remind us that being on the road can enrich our lives and the lives of those around us.

Share your stories of Jewish women whose lives have been affected by travel.
