Rising Voices Fellows 2013-14
The Jewish Women’s Archive (JWA) and Prozdor are excited to announce the pilot year of the Rising Voices Fellowship. The fellowship is open to female-identified teens in grades 11 and 12 who have a passion for writing, a demonstrated concern for current events, a commitment to improving their writing skills, and a strong interest in Judaism—particularly as it relates to issues of gender and equality.
Miriasha Borsykowsky is a high school senior in Burlington, Vermont. She is a regional leader of Young Judaea and passionate about queer issues and feminism.
Hannah Elbaum is a junior at Newton South High School, an active participant in the North American Federation of Temple Youth-Northeast region, a Diller Teen Fellow, and an active member at Temple Beth Elohim in Wellesley, MA.
Avigayil Halpern is a senior at the Hebrew High School of New England in West Hartford, Connecticut. She is a Bronfman Youth Fellow for 2013, and a member of the Jewish Orthodox Feminist Alliance (JOFA) Teen Leadership Committee.
Marissa Harrington-Verb is a senior in high school; she sings and dances and does musical theater, and for the past two years has been a teacher's assistant in a younger dance class.
Olivia Link is an 11th grade dance major at the Boston Arts Academy. She also is an active student government member and a leader in the school’s environmental club.
Eden Marcus is a senior at Needham High School and is president of Needham’s United Synagogue Youth (USY) chapter.
